The University of Zanjan, with an approach based on conservation and sustainable resource utilization, pursues water and wastewater management as one of the core pillars of its green management strategy. The university’s most significant actions for protecting natural resources and achieving sustainable development goals include the adoption of modern technologies, optimizing consumption, and utilizing treated wastewater for landscape development.

As part of the university’s commitment to environmental conservation and the enhancement of public health standards, a comprehensive wastewater management plan for the university’s female and male student dormitories, as well as the central dining hall, has been developed and implemented. This initiative represents an effective step toward the proper and hygienic collection, conveyance, and disposal of wastewater, preventing environmental pollution, and safeguarding the health of the university community.

Water Consumption Control: Installation of low-flow showerheads in some dormitories. Regular inspection of connections and faucets to prevent water wastage and leaks. This advanced package effectively treats incoming wastewater, removing key pollutants through novel biological and physical processes. The granular technology employed in this system significantly enhances treatment efficiency and enables the recycling of treated water for non-potable uses, such as irrigating the university’s green spaces. This initiative represents a significant step towards optimal water resource management and the reduction of environmental pollution within the university.
