University of Zanjan, in pursuit of achieving sustainable development objectives, has undertaken impactful initiatives in the domain of expanding and maintaining green spaces. These efforts focus on the optimal management of water resources, increasing the coverage of resilient plant species, and modifying landscape patterns. This approach aims to reduce water consumption, enhance adaptability to the regional climate conditions, and improve the overall environmental quality of the university.
Instalaltion of hybrid renewable energy system
Installation of solar panels and the use of renewable energy on the roof of the Central Administration Building.
Electricity Consumption Control:
Smart Automation of Boiler Rooms
In order to control and reduce energy consumption in the boiler rooms of the university’s buildings (including faculty buildings, dormitories, the central dining hall, and others) smart automation systems have been implemented, helping to prevent energy waste.
Use of Thermal Insulation Panels and Energy Optimization
In recent years, the university has adopted thermal insulation panels in its new construction projects, including the married students’ dormitory, with the aim of optimizing energy consumption and improving construction quality.
By reducing heat transfer between the interior and exterior of buildings, these panels play an important role in lowering energy consumption, improving indoor thermal conditions, and enhancing overall building efficiency.
Renewable Energy Use
One of the most effective ways to reduce electricity consumption or at least minimize the costs associated with electricity use is the installation of solar panels on the roofs of offices and residences. In addition, the use of solar energy through photovoltaic systems on roads and highways has also been implemented in many parts of Iran, to varying degrees.
With the participation of an investment company, the University of Zanjan has entered negotiations to construct a solar power plant to supply clean energy. The projected electricity generation capacity is 7 megawatts, and an area of 15 hectares within the university has been identified for this purpose.

Installation of Inverters for Energy Savings
To control and reduce energy consumption during the operation of the university’s Well No. 2, an inverter has been installed. This helps prevent energy waste and improves overall efficiency in the pumping and operation process.
